Should You Book More Weddings or Raise Your Prices?

If you are thinking of booking more weddings to make more money then you could be in for a rough ride. Chasing after bookings for the sake of having more money to pay your bills can be a disaster waiting to happen.

When I was planning weddings – I fell into this trap. For three years in a row – I had weddings every weekend – Sometimes 3 on one weekend.

I thought I was successful!

and I guess, in a way, I was because I had discovered how to book a lot of weddings.

But I wasn’t…

I was exhausted and my business suffered because of it.

Don’t fall victim to the more weddings is better idea – because it’s not!

Less is More!

Why is it a Bad Idea to Book Too Many Weddings?

When you start to scale your wedding business in hope of gaining more money and profit, what tends to happen is that you take on too much work and put too much pressure on yourself.

This could then result in you looking for extra help to carry the load, but with this then comes extra responsibilities and burdens on your shoulders. For instance, you only get paid when you have bookings – correct?

So if you have extra staff members needing to get paid – what would happen if your bookings dried up or we got hit by another pandemic?

Hiring help is great if you’re making money and looking to scale and raise your prices – but if you’re just hiring because you are overworked – this may not give you the results you are seeking.

When you book too many weddings, you may also find that you have to compromise in other areas of your life, including your time with your children, spouse, or partner, and even when you are in their company – you may be too tired and exhausted to engage in conversation and activities.

Another aspect to consider is also the management systems for extra weddings – will your management system cope with extra weddings.

Too many weddings could potentially result in less attention for your current clients that could end up hurting your business in the long run with negative reviews and feedback.
